Boys and Girls Club – Mason/Deerfield
Exciting things are happening at Resurrection!
At Resurrection, our vision is to be used by God to change lives, strengthen churches, and transform the world. We’re called to close the gap between the world as it is and the world as God intends. We do this by empowering and mobilizing people to serve our community with their gifts, compassion, and resources. As we grow in our love for God, we also grow in our love for our neighbors, and we want to love them well.
From the beginning, we have been building relationships throughout our community and looking for meaningful ways to use one of our greatest resources, our building, to meet real needs within the city of Mason. We have been praying for the right community partner; one whose mission aligns with our values and our commitment to loving our neighbors. We also wanted a partner that welcomes volunteers and provides opportunities for our congregation to serve alongside them.
We are excited to announce that the Boys & Girls Club will soon be serving Mason City Schools, with its home based at Resurrection!
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Their after-school program provides students with a safe, welcoming environment where they receive a healthy snack, homework support through Power Hour, and opportunities to participate in programs such as fitness, art, STEM activities, leadership development, and more.
What does this mean for Resurrection?
First, we need to prepare the building. While you only see a portion of our facility on Sunday mornings, we have several classrooms and gathering spaces that need to be refreshed. If you can help with a paintbrush in hand, we’d love to have you. Learn more and sign up here.
Second, we need volunteers. One of the greatest opportunities will be tutoring and encouraging students. If you’re interested, let us know now so we can begin the Boys & Girls Club volunteer process and have you ready when the school year begins. Let us know you’re interested in volunteering
Finally, please pray. Pray for Resurrection, the Boys & Girls Club, Mason City Schools, and the students and families who will be part of this program. Pray for the many details that must come together before students arrive on August 13. Most of all, pray that this partnership becomes a powerful way for us to share the love of Christ by serving our neighbors well.
